About Us
This 1.5km guided walk explores some of the ancient and notable trees found in the Forest of Dean, led by Paul Rutter of Plantlife.
The route explores a path with mostly gentle sloping ground from Spruce Ride car park (just down from The Speech House Hotel) following a circular route through Speech House woodlands, including the Cyril Hart Arboretum. Starting and finishing at the same point.
A reasonable level of fitness will be needed to complete this approximately 2 hours walk, along with sturdy and appropriate footwear. Please bring your own refreshments.
Highlights: We shall be looking at the ancient and notable trees in this part of the forest and observing any wildlife that is found amongst the trees.
Parking: is in Forestry England’s Spruce Ride car park, just down from The Speech House Hotel on the road linking Speech House Road to Fancy Road, grid ref SO621118.
