About Us
Rain or Shine, the Dick Whittington Park at Longhope offers a range of family attractions for both adults and children to enjoy. The park is set in the beautiful quiet location of Hidden Valley which runs off May Hill.
PLAY BARN
There is a massive indoor heated play barn for the children which includes slides, climbing frames, trampolines, climbing wall and wavy mirrors. Children’s party room available.
HIDDEN VALLEY NATURE TRAILS
Enjoy nature's country garden in a peaceful and tranquil setting by following the flower trails around the valley. Soak up the flora and fauna, butterflies, birds and the flower trials. Spot the birdlife and insects as you pass the lakes, wander into the ancient wood and through the hazelnut groves, and then experience the olde Gloucestershire apple orchard. Enjoy the stunning hill top viewing point and end up in the sensory garden to enjoy the scents, sounds and things to touch.
GLOUCESTERSHIRE WHO’S WHO GALLERY
This is a fascinating insight into a range of characters and you are bound to say at some stage “I didn’t know that”. Characters include the Harry Potter author J.K Rowling, inventors, musicians, war heroes, politicians, radio and sporting personalities, pop stars, playwrights and Olympic stars (Eddie the Eagle) not forgetting of course the real Dick Whittington.
FOOD AND DRINK
Our Cats Whiskers Restaurant offers hot and cold food plus drinks and snacks. Picnic areas are available around the nature trails and in the sensory garden.
HORSES
Say hello to the horses either in the stable yard or in the paddocks around the walks.
FISHING
Our lakes are filled with carp. Fishing is available for both the experienced and inexperienced.
ENVIRONMENTAL/CONSERVATION
Over the past 20 years the park has been transformed into a haven for wildlife, birds, flora and fauna. Very extensive tree and flower planting has been undertaken and the lake areas opened up. The park has achieved both national and county awards for its conservation work, all of which can be enjoyed along the nature trails.
DISABLED ACCESS
The lake area, part of the flower walks, and sensory garden are designed for wheelchair access.
DOGS
Dogs are welcome but we insist that they are strictly kept on leads and not brought into the indoor areas.
