The Wye Valley is one of the most scenic places in the UK and an ideal setting for water based adventures. Whether in a canoe, a kayak or on a stand-up paddleboard, take to the water and see this beautiful area as it is meant to be seen - from the river itself.
Whether you're looking for a gentle paddle, an exhilarating experience or a family day out, you’ll find a wide range of outdoor adventure activities to suit all ages and skill levels. With slow running waters, the River Wye is perfect for beginners to canoe and kayak, although its fast rapid waters at Symonds Yat guarantee to excite the more experienced water enthusiast. A guided canoe trip is probably the most popular way to explore the Wye Valley, it's ideal for families and groups and makes for a lovely day out. Or you could try individual kayaks with the option of rapids or those lovely stand-up paddleboards including a Mega-SUP which holds up to 8 people at once!
Why not make a day of it? Stop off for lunch at one of our many river side eateries serving delicious local food and drink or pack a picnic. Or if one day isn’t enough, spend a longer break surrounded by beautiful landscapes, canoe during the day and camp next to the Wye overnight, perfect for leaving those every day stresses and worries behind.
Or how about something really different like inland surfing? The Severn Bore is a spectacular natural phenomena, this tidal wave is the second highest in the world! There are a number of viewing points along the river, and there is even the opportunity to surf, kayak or SUP it (only for the really experienced).
