About Us
A one-day free community wellbeing and world music event taking place at the Bandstand in Ross-on-Wye. The event runs alongside The Walking Festival (24-26 September - walkinginross.co.uk), and will promote health and wellbeing activities available in and around Ross-on-Wye.
Ross-on-Wye Community Development Trust (www.rosscdt.org.uk) will be attending and providing information on its Clover project, which promotes social prescribing and wellness activities such as Nordic Walking and Mindfulness Weaving (hosted by ignite) and Wellbeing in Nature walks (hosted by Herefordshire Wildlife Trust).
Following a morning of outdoor health and fitness classes, in the afternoon, Jon Sterckx, tabla player & world music percussionist, will run two kashaka workshops, a percussion instrument which creates highly complex rhythmic patterns and polyrhythms. Later in the afternoon, we welcome the Ajay Karmic Blues Duo, Sheema Mukherjee on sitar and a live DJ set hosted by Andy Kershaw, broadcaster, journalist, writer and former BBC radio presenter.
This is a community event, so if you want to get involved, get in touch. If you are interested in either partnering with us as a sponsor, running a fitness or yoga class, helping out as a steward or would like to apply to host a food or drink pitch at the festival, please email Jane Mainey at tourism@rosstc-herefordshire.gov.uk or call Ross-on-Wye Town Council on 01989 562373 during office hours.
