About Us
Wyldwood Arts is a community arts charity based in the Forest of Dean. Over the past few months, they have been working with local groups, clubs and associations to create fabric parade banners for a series of special community celebration events being held across the Forest this Autumn.
Developed as part of the ‘Community Celebration’ strand of the National Lottery Heritage Fund Foresters’ Forest programme, the project originally involved just a handful of local groups - all of whom were also part of the Foresters’ Forest programme - but it soon became clear that the project had the potential to reach many other communities in the area! So we did a call-out for local community groups, clubs and associations who were interested in making a banner, providing those who responded with free support and materials. We also hosted a series of community ‘Making Days’ over the summer, to give individuals and families a chance to contribute to banners representing their own part of the Forest.
The flagship event will be a special community celebration walk in Cinderford Town Centre on Saturday 25th September. Accompanied by a local brass band, we will walk together with all our project participants and supporters through the streets of Cinderford, carrying all the banners made as part of this incredible project, arriving at the Triangle for 11am. We’re hoping to get as many people as possible along to the event, to give them an opportunity to show their support for their local community while being part of something truly memorable!
