In the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley
The Forest of Dean and Wye Valley is home to incredible trails for walking, cycling, and discovering the region’s rich history. Whether you’re after a leisurely stroll, a scenic bike ride, or a themed trail exploring film locations and folklore, there’s a route for everyone.
Walking & Cycling Trails
With miles of waymarked routes, walkers can enjoy everything from short circular trails to long-distance hikes. The Wye Valley Walk stretches 136 miles, but shorter sections make great day walks. The Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail combines art and nature, while the Colliers Trail offers a 9-mile circular cycling route through woodland. The Wye Valley Greenway, a traffic-free path between Chepstow and Tintern, is perfect for walkers and cyclists alike.
Themed & Heritage Trails
For something different, follow a themed trail and uncover the area’s stories. The Film & TV Locations Trail highlights filming spots from Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Sex Education. There are Market Town Trails to enjoy that lead you through historic towns, while the Myths & Legends Trail brings local folklore to life.
