A visit to Puzzlewood is like stepping into a fairytale. A popular film location, you may recognise Puzzlewood from television series such as Merlin or feature films such as Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Secret Garden.

Ideal for all the family and anyone who loves being outdoors, enjoy  a wonderful walk along a mile and a half of intricate pathways that meander through the trees and moss cloaked rocky ravines. You'll quickly discover why JRR Tolkien, author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, is rumoured to have been inspired by Puzzlewood for Middle-earth!

Stunningly beautiful at any time of the year, Puzzlewood looks particularly lovely during the spring when wild garlic covers the woodland floor. With birdsong filling the air, it's an uplifting experience. As well as enjoying Puzzlewood's natural beauty, there are various things to find, such as bridges, lookouts and a Roman coin trail for younger visitors!

Once you've finished exploring, say hello to our animals. From Highland cows and donkeys to ducks and chickens, it's a complete menagerie. There's a cosy cafe serving light bites, homemade cakes, drinks and ice creams, or if you prefer come prepared with your own picnic and relax on one of the many benches. There's a small indoor and outdoor play area too. An average visit is approximately 3 hours.

Tickets are available online and on arrival, with parking included. Watch out for our special events that run throughout the year, including Mother's Day, Easter, Father's Day and Halloween.

Looking for somewhere to stay? Why not stay at Puzzlewood and enjoy access to the wood outside of opening hours (during daylight) and feeding the animals in the morning. Puzzlewood Patch and Puzzlewood Cottage both sleep four, and Puzzlewood House sleeps eight.
