About Wenchford

Wenchford, managed by Forestry England, is a popular picnic site hidden in the Forest of Dean.

Blackpool Brook trickles through the site under the dappled shade of the large oak trees. The paddling area is the perfect place to cool down in the hot summer months.

There are plenty of picnic tables around the stream to enjoy a family feast - please do not light a BBQ or fire in the forest.

There is a short waymarked walking trail taking you along Blackpool Brook on a hard surfaced path. From Wenchford, you can explore the wider area using the forest tracks. Please note: these are not signposted and so we recommend bringing an OS map to find your way.

If you are planning a picnic at Wenchford, please make sure you take your litter home with you and recycle where possible.

The toilet facilities are open from:

The first day of the Gloucestershire school Easter holidays or 1 April, whichever is earlier until;

The last day of the Gloucestershire school half term holidays or 31 October, whichever is later.

Parking charges apply during this time.

Regular visitors can save money with a Forestry England membership.
