ABOUT

The Swan is a local independent pub with rooms which sits at the heart of the town of Lydney in the Forest of Dean.  Dating back to the 18th century, The Swan has been a mainstay feature within the town and has a rich history of serving the local community.

Situated right in the busy centre of Lydney, we are perfectly placed for exploring the Forest of Dean, travelling for work or simply enjoying a leisure break away. The Swan offers an affordable, yet comfortable stay with the benefit of a home cooked breakfast included in the price.

The Swans philosophy is for individuals to feel relaxed and comfortable, be that in our bar, dining area or accommodation.

With our courtyard garden to the rear of the building, this is the perfect oasis for a drink in the summertime.  During the winter months, our real log fireplace in the bar is a welcoming feature. Open every day, we offer a good selection of drinks, teas and coffees.

Lunches and dinner are available Wednesday to Saturday from 12pm. We are also open for Sunday lunch from 12pm-2.30pm.

STAY

The team here at The Swan look forward to welcoming you to the pub which is located in the middle of the busy town of Lydney in the Forest of Dean. The Swan has seven bedrooms (six are en-suite and one has its own private bathroom across the corridor) Due to the age of the building, all rooms are situated on the first and second floors above the pub area and accessible only via stairs.

All rooms have a flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities, free WIFI and a hairdryer. Keyless entry to the main accommodation door makes for easy access also.

A freshly cooked breakfast is included in the price, along with car parking (as available in free car park to the rear of the pub or in the free public car park 100 metres away). A secure bike storage is also available. Food is served from Wednesday to Saturday from 12pm and on Sunday from 12pm-2.30pm

The location of The Swan makes this an ideal base for exploring the Forest of Dean be it walking, cycling or sightseeing. Visitor attractions locally include Dean Forest Railway, Taurus Crafts and Lydney Harbour. Picturesque Bathurst Park is also located nearby. Biking and walking trails such as The Sculpture Trail, Mallards Pike and the Forest of Dean Cycle trail are all within a short distance from The Swan.

Looking for something further afield? With easy access to larger towns and cities such as Gloucester, Monmouth and Cheltenham only around a 30-40 minute drive away, these make ideal day trip destinations.

DINE

The Swan is a free house pub located in the middle of the busy town of Lydney in the Forest of Dean. As our team make all food on the premises, dishes can be adapted to suit dietary requirements which include gluten free, vegan, vegetarian and lactose intolerance.

Food is served from Wednesday to Saturday from 12pm and on Sundays between 12pm and 2.30pm.

Our weekday menu ranges from pub classics, pizzas and steaks to pan-seared fish and slow-cooked lamb. On Sundays, we serve our popular two or three course Sunday Lunch.

Although we have some dining tables in The Swan, we also have dining tables in our larger restaurant space (which in a former life used to be the skittle alley for The Swan). This also makes the perfect location to hold celebrations including weddings, funeral wakes and private functions.

It is the ideal venue to hold a celebration and can accommodate up to 50 people for a sit-down meal or buffet. Whatever the celebration, let our team ensure you have a fabulous day.
