At Hot Pot Pottery we offer a range of options for you to ‘get creative in clay’ and enjoy our characterful studio with peaceful surroundings in our beautiful valley.
POTTERY TRIAL CLASSES - an introduction to pottery
A fun, 2.5 hour pottery introductory session covering 3 pottery techniques (including a go on the wheel) where you can leave up to 3 pieces for us to glaze & fire. Refreshments included. 6 years & above. Complete beginners or more experienced potters welcome. Perfect for couples, friends or families. £50pp plus £20 delivery per booking if required (as long as the pottery is being delivered to the same UK address).
POTTERY PAINTING - release the painter in you
Themed pottery painting sessions - such as Easter, Valentine’s, Hallowe’en & Christmas, where you can paint themed pottery (themed food can also be booked).
- £9.50 per person to paint including just refreshments
- £15.00 per person including refreshments & either sweet or savoury themed food options
- £19.50 per person including refreshments & both sweet & savoury themed food options.
The price you pay on booking includes your space in the studio, refreshments & whatever food options you have booked. The themed pottery pieces you choose to paint are payable on the day (cash or card).
Regular pottery painting sessions
Often in the school holidays, where you can choose from our regular range of pottery painting blanks.
- £7.50 per person to paint excluding refreshments plus the prices of the pieces chosen on the day (£2.75 - £15.00 payable cash/card in the studio).
- £9.50 per person including refreshments (payable in advance when you book) plus the prices of the pieces chosen on the day (£2.75 - £15.00 - payable cash/card in the studio).
Hire pottery painting kits
If we are not using our pottery painting kits in our studio then they can be hired for use off site at your home/holiday accommodation. £7.50 per person to paint (payable in advance) plus the prices of the pieces chosen (£2.75 - £15.00) to be painted on the day (payable either in advance or cash/card on collection of the kits). Plus a £20 returnable cash deposit required for each kit hired.
Delivery - with all our pottery painting we try to glaze & fire fairly soon after your session but if delivery is required it is £20 delivery per booking if required (as long as the pottery is being delivered to the same UK address).
1/2 DAY OR FULL DAY THROWING ON THE WHEEL - immerse yourself in wheel throwing
A more in-depth pottery workshop focusing on throwing on the wheel in a small class environment (6 people max. no sharing of wheels). Lots of dedicated & tailored help & advice plus an opportunity to add handles and/or try decorating your pots with coloured slip. Suitable for beginners or more confident throwers. 10am-1.30pm (half day) or 10am-5pm (full day).
- £75pp for the half day includes refreshments & leaving up to 4 pottery pieces for us to glaze & fire.
- £160 pp for the full day includes a home-made lunch & refreshments & leaving up to 6 pottery pieces for us to glaze and fire.
Plus £20 delivery per booking if required (as long as the pottery is being delivered to the same UK address).
POTTERY AND FOOD EXPERIENCES - combining pottery & themed food
Themed pottery and food experiences 10am-2pm- Afternoon Tea, Pizza or Pasta. These fun session include making theme related pottery on the wheel, pottery painting of themed pottery blanks & themed food to round off your experience. Max. 10 people. Leave up to 4 pieces with us for glazing & firing. £85.00pp plus £20 delivery per booking if required (as long as the pottery is being delivered to the same UK address).
WEEKEND POTTERY RETREATS - relax & rejuvenate with pottery & countryside living in an idyllic spot
Spend 3 days relaxing with us (B&B Accommodation can be provided) at our lovely country location, enjoy home cooked food, a local pub meal out, walks, a visit to the Wye Valley & go into more depth with pottery with more time, introducing a wider range of pottery techniques & surface decoration. Please do follow these directions, search for Hot Pot Pottery on Google Maps or ask for a pin drop from us as using the postcode will take you to the wrong farmhouse! That’s country living for you!

Directions – from Coleford: From the traffic lights in the centre of Coleford head towards Monmouth on the Staunton Road. Turn right following signs for Berry Hill and Symonds Yat. Go straight over the A4136 Monmouth Road. Past the left turn to Forest Holidays Lodges/Bracelands Campsite. Don’t take the left turn towards Symonds Yat East but continue on down the hill past Christchurch Church (on your right) in the direction of Ross-on-Wye and Symonds Yat West. Keep following this road past The New Inn (on your left) and down the sharp hill into English Bicknor. Continue through the village until you see a right turn signposted for Eastbach. Turn right here and follow this single track lane steep downhill and then uphill until you see our light grey, 3-storey farmhouse on the left and turn left immediately after the house in through our double gates and we will direct you on where to park.

Turn in through our double gates and we will direct you on where to park.
Directions from Ross-on-Wye: take the B4234 out of Ross towards Coleford and as you come up the hill into English Bicknor turn left just after the church, signposted for Eastbach and follow this single track lane steep downhill and then uphill until you see our light grey, 3-storey farmhouse on the left and turn left immediately after the house in through our double gates and we will direct you on where to park.

Parking: Once you have turned on through our gates our parking is mainly round the back of the farmhouse. We have 5-6 off road parking spaces.
Public transport is not really a viable option to get to us as we are in a fairly remote location. A car is needed.
