About Hobbit Huts at Saltbox Escapes
Saltbox Escapes is a family-owned boutique holiday business, situated between the Forest of Dean and the River Wye, in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Our two Hobbit Huts provide quirky hobbit-sized luxury in nature with stunning views, and cosy comfort for couples and families in a child- and dog-friendly meadow.
Unique and unforgettable - they are perfect for hobbits and people alike. In each cabin there’s a circular living space with a side bedroom, a well-equipped kitchen with hob, microwave and fridge/freezer, and a toilet - with a luxury shower room a minute’s walk away.
Outside is a terrace with firepit and umbrella, plus a shared garden and meadow alive with wildlife.
KEY FEATURES
Hobbits enjoy comfortable living, so you will have:
- Heating and air-conditioning, provided by an eco-friendly air source heat pump
- Excellent wi-fi inside and out
- 42" smart TV with Netflix, Amazon etc
- Plenty of electric sockets and charging points
- All bedding and towels provided
As well as a kingsize double bed in the tiny bedroom, there is a double sofabed in the living area, for an extra adult or up to two children.
Around the Hobbit Huts are one and a half acres of shared secure meadow and gardens, a recreational area for all our guests to enjoy. Watch the lambs racing each other around our neighbours' field below, spot the buzzards circling above, and enjoy fresh-laid eggs from our resident chickens when available. The sounds of nature are here in abundance: the uplifting dawn chorus, the squeaking sounds of baby tawny owls demanding food, and the echoing calls of the lucky pheasants who escaped the local shoots.
At night relax with a barbecue and when the sky is clear the stars are a wonder to behold.
The site, known as Saltbox Escapes, is located in the friendly village of English Bicknor, with the Forest of Dean to the east and the Wye Valley to the west. We are a mile and a half's walk from Symonds Yat Rock, an extraordinary natural viewpoint, and close to the many activities and attractions of the area including canoeing, walking and cycling.
The towns of Coleford, Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye are less than twenty minutes' drive away, with plenty of restaurants, shops and pubs.
