About Hot Pot Pottery

A cosy country pottery offering a wide range of pottery activities, workshops, classes and experiences for all ages, levels of ability & budgets in the Forest of Dean.  Here is a taster of what we offer.

We look forward to welcoming you here to ‘get creative in clay’ and enjoy our characterful studio with peaceful surroundings in our beautiful valley.

Pottery Trial Classes - an introduction to pottery – a fun, 2.5 hour pottery introductory session covering 3 pottery techniques (including a go on the wheel). Refreshments included. 6 years & above, complete beginners welcome. Perfect for couples, friends or families. £50pp plus £20 delivery if required (delivery can be shared).

Pottery painting - release the painter in you - themed pottery painting sessions, such as Easter, Valentine’s, Hallowe’en & Christmas, where you can paint themed pottery (often including themed food). Or regular pottery painting sessions, often in the school holidays, where you can choose from our range of pottery painting blanks. Our themed pottery painting sessions are £22.50 pp which includes your space in the studio and food & drink plus the prices of the pieces you choose on the day (which can be paid for in the studio – cash or card). Our regular pottery painting sessions are £7.50pp to paint plus the prices of the pieces chosen (which can be paid for in the studio - cash or card). Plus £20 delivery if required (delivery can be shared).

1/2 day & 1 day throwing - immerse yourself in wheel throwing – more in-depth pottery workshops focusing on throwing on the wheel in a small class environment. Lots of dedicated help & advice. Suitable for beginners. Max. 6 in a class. Your own wheel – no sharing! 10am-1.30pm or 10am-5pm (full day includes lunch). £75pp or £160 pp plus £20 delivery if required (delivery can be shared).

Pottery experiences - combining pottery & themed food - themed pottery and food sessions - Afternoon Tea, Pizza or Pasta themes. Our Experience Days are 10am-2pm & include pottery making on the wheel, pottery painting & themed food to round off your experience. Max. 10 people. £85.00pp plus £20 delivery if required (delivery can be shared).

Pottery Retreats - relax & rejuvenate with pottery– spend 3 days relaxing with us (B&B Accommodation can be provided) at our lovely country location, enjoy home cooked food, a meal out, walks, a visit to the Wye Valley & go into more depth with pottery with more time, introducing a wider range of pottery techniques & surface decoration. Various costs depending on whether you choose to stay with us or elsewhere and which room you choose. Visit our website for more information or contact us.

Private Parties & Celebrations celebrate & enjoy pottery– outside of our regular pottery activities & classes we can provide bespoke parties to celebrate life’s events together & can include catering if required.

Getting to us

Please do follow these directions or ask for a pin drop from us as the postcode will take you to the wrong farmhouse! That’s country living for you!

Directions – from Coleford: From the traffic lights in the centre of Coleford head towards Monmouth on the Staunton Road. Turn right following signs for Berry Hill and Symonds Yat. Go straight over the A4136 Monmouth Road. Past the left turn to Forest Holidays Lodges/Bracelands Campsite. Don’t take the left turn towards Symonds Yat East but continue on down the hill past Christchurch Church (on your right) in the direction of Ross-on-Wye and Symonds Yat West. Keep following this road past The New Inn (on your left) and down the sharp hill into English Bicknor. Continue through the village until you see a right turn signposted for Eastbach. Turn right here and follow this single track lane steep downhill and then uphill until you see our light grey, 3-storey farmhouse on the left and turn left immediately after the house in through our double gates and we will direct you on where to park.

Turn right onto the A4136 towards Gloucester and go straight on at the traffic lights at Five Acres Garage. Then through Edge End and as you head downhill you will see a left turn for Eastbach and Lydbrook. This turning has 2 lanes, take the higher one, come down the hill (beautiful views) past Eastbach Court, don’t take Tump Lane straight ahead but stay on the lane, sharp left and we are the light grey, 3-storey farmhouse on the right. Turn in through our double gates and we will direct you on where to park.

Directions from Ross-on-Wye: take the B4234 out of Ross towards Coleford and as you come up the hill into English Bicknor turn left just after the church, signposted for Eastbach and follow this single track lane steep downhill and then uphill until you see our light grey, 3-storey farmhouse on the left and turn left immediately after the house in through our double gates and we will direct you on where to park.

Directions from Monmouth: Take the A4136 towards Gloucester and The Forest of Dean. Go past the turnings for Coleford (right) and Ross-on-Wye (left) and straight on at the traffic lights at Five Acres Garage. Then through Edge End and as you head downhill you will see a left turn for Eastbach and Lydbrook. Parking: Once you have turned on through our gates our parking is mainly round the back of the farmhouse. We will help you park due to limited spaces. Please do car share if you can.

Public transport is not really a viable option to get to us as we are in a fairly remote location.  A car is needed.
