Welcome to The Fountain Inn.

Alan and Michelle welcome you to their award winning village inn. Built 250 years ago, The Fountain was extended to provide accommodation for travellers when the Severn and Wye Railway began operating passenger trains to Parkend in 1875. It is now the oldest surviving building in Parkend and the many photographs and artefacts which adorn our walls provide a fascinating insight into the history of village life.

Our Pub, Food and Drink

Ours is a friendly, family run, village pub that's well known locally for its excellent meals and real ales. We offer a wide choice of good quality, home-cooked, meals, ranging from steaks to curries and hot-pots. On Sundays, we also run a popular carvery from noon until 3pm.

Almost all of our meat comes from butchers within 4 miles of Parkend and we support many other producers in the Forest of Dean. At the bar you'll even find local real ales on tap, as well as a wide selection of other beers and wines. We welcome families, mountain bikers and walkers.

Well behaved dogs are also welcome in the bar.

In the centre of Parkend village with woodland walks, the Dean Forest Railway and bike hire from Dean Forest Cycles.

Accommodation

Located close to the heart of the Forest, the inn makes an ideal base for exploring, whether you're here for the mountain biking, the walking trails, or just a proper break away from it all. The Forest of Dean Cycle Centre is just a few miles away, while RSPB Nagshead and the northern terminus of the Dean Forest Steam Railway are both in the village itself.

We have seven 4-star en-suite guest rooms, including two family rooms, one of which has been adapted for less-able guests. All rooms are tastefully decorated and furnished, with televisions and tea and coffee making facilities.

Free WiFi is available throughout. Dogs are welcome to stay in your room for a small additional charge. Room service is available, with breakfast in bed from 9:15am.
