About Brockweir Village Shop and Café

Brockweir Village Shop

The Brockweir Village Shop and Café is a volunteer-run, not for profit and community owned business that has been serving our local community and visitors in this beautiful part of the Wye Valley near Tintern and the Forest of Dean since 2004.

The shop stocks a wide variety of both essential and speciality, fresh and frozen foods and household goods with a focus on prioritising and promoting local suppliers. We also sell newspapers and have a wide variety of local information, maps and guides, cards and gifts.

Fresh vegetables, meat, fish and milk are delivered regularly along with delicious pies pasties and sausage rolls. Fresh bread is baked daily and wonderful range of sourdough made within half a mile of the shop is delivered twice a week.

A range of self-service goods (eg grains, cereals, dried fruit to name but a few) are available, alongside our eco cleaning products all designed to reduce our carbon footprint.  Firewood and charcoal are also available.  We stock a good range of wine and spirits as well as a selection of locally brewed beer and cider. Our range of “free-from” and vegan products have proved popular, and we are consistently looking to increase the choices available. We strive to provide a diverse selection of goods at a wide price range.

We have a popular licensed café located within the shop. Additional services include photocopying and stamps. From January 2025 we anticipate having an Inpost locker for collection and sending of parcels.

It is recently fully reopened and substantially refurbished after a fire which caused serious damage to the building in 2023.

Brockweir Village Café

The cafe is a little gem built within the Brockweir Village Shop which has been serving the local community and visitors in this beautiful part of the Wye Valley since 2004.

The cafe which is open Mon-Sat from 10am-5pm with lunch served from 12-2.30 provides a hub and community meeting point with both inside and outside seating overlooking the Wye valley and adjacent children’s play area. It is a destination of choice for locals and visitors and a well-situated stopping point for cyclists and ramblers.

It is almost entirely run by local volunteers and aims to source local produce wherever possible. The café has a limited, but well thought out, menu. The drinks selection includes a typical barista made coffee selection and uses coffee beans roasted by Triple-Co-Roast in Bristol that are freshly grind for each cup. Syrups for coffee and a wide range of teas are also available. The exceptional hot chocolate has proved to be extremely popular. A delicious selection of cakes and patisseries caters for all dietary requirements.  Croissants and pastries are available on weekends. The lunch menu features freshly homemade soup and organic sourdough toasties (and sides) as well as daily specials and salads. The café is also licensed, and locally produced beer, cider and wine is available for purchase in the shop for consumption on the premises.

It is recently refurbished and fully reopen after an 18-month period of disruption following a fire in 2003.
