Set on a hillside in the beautiful Forest of Dean you’ll find a unique and stylish holiday home with a wow factor. A luxurious self-catering experience in an architect-designed single-storey cedar-clad eco retreat for couples, solo travellers and families with up to 2 children. The master bedroom can be set as a twin.
You’ll find a peaceful, private space, filled with art, plants, gorgeous textiles and stunning scenery, with it’s own driveway and entrance, a generous patio and dining area overlooking terraced gardens and the woodland and farmland beyond. Imagine…a sliding door disappears, dissolving the boundary between inside and out, yourself and nature. Steps spiral you down past wildflower borders and edible plants to a private sunny lawn. Below, there’s a wilder space with a fire pit ready for cosy stargazing or outdoor cooking.
The warm calming interiors invite you to slow down and rest, whilst the expansive views give you some fresh perspective as you escape the everyday. The decor has a homely mid-century vibe, set off by modernist inspired fabrics, rustic ceramics and Scandi kitchen details. And our love for all things green and leafy has meant we have indulged our passion for indoor plants so you can relax, shower and sleep amongst funky foliage.
Enjoy a kitchen for foodies and coffee-lovers that’s also perfect for a quick easy dinner after a day of wandering and wonder. On arrival you’ll find a welcome hamper of locally made delights from within 15 miles of Nuthatch Retreat including a loaf of sourdough, butter, milk, coffee, eggs (alternatives available based on your dietary needs). A freezer also reveals tasty local add-ons that you can help yourself to via our honesty-bar. We also provide some basics - olive oil, salt, pepper, herbs and spices and breakfast tea.
After a nearby ramble, sink into the comfort of the sofa, soak up the grandeur of nature or drop the generous screen down ready for a high-definition movie session or two.
And finally, drift off to the sound of owls in your superking-sized bed. Gently awaken to birdsong after a good nights’ rest, opening the curtains wide to soak in the hillside view over the first cuppa of the day. A lovely additional bedroom/playroom is available for up to 2 children over 4yrs old which is filled with games and books to keep them happy,
The layout is wheelchair accessible from the ramped front door entranceway through and out to the generous patio area, with a spacious wet room and wide doors.
