About Us

Set deep in the heart of the forest, this cottage has been tastefully redesigned to provide a peaceful haven in beautiful forest surroundings but only half a mile from Yorkley village with two shops, a Health Centre and bus stop. You are able to use the many walking trails from right outside the gate and enjoy the wonderful scenery and wildlife.

It is spacious (sleeping 6), comfortable in all seasons (central heating and log-burning stoves), welcoming to disabled people, families, pets, and older people all in a way that respects the environment.

The cottage is accessible to those who need help with mobility having a downstairs bedroom (including ceiling hoist) and an ensuite wetroom.

Living/Dining Room

This is a large, new room with a pitched ceiling and an oak floor.  The wall facing the garden consists of an extended floor-to-ceiling series of glass doors which can be folded back to give uninterrupted access to a large area of decking, and the garden beyond.

The wall opposite these glass doors has an extended cupboard built in with a sliding door behind which the television and audio equipment are concealed.

Kitchen

The kitchen is fitted with a range of modern units with solid beech worktops.

Equipment includes a dishwasher, a fridge, a freezer, a microwave oven, a full size electric oven and hob, and a Belfast sink.

There is also a lowered area of worktop to facilitate use from a wheelchair.

There is a full range of pots and pans, cutlery and crockery.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms

The cottage has a double bedroom and a twin bedded room upstairs, sharing a bathroom.

The downstairs bedroom has a king-sized bed, with a ceiling hoist and an accessible wet-room en-suite. A wheeled shower commode chair is available if needed and folding shower stool and various grab rails are fitted in the bathroom.

Gardens

There is a small front garden with steps and a shallow ramp up to the glazed front door.

Outside the back door there is a large area of decking with a substantial outdoor table, chairs and a bench, and a ramp down to the large back garden. This is mainly grass with a number of mature trees, a garden shed and garden seats.

Barbecuing equipment is available.

There are excellent opportunities for wildlife and bird spotting, including (if you’re lucky) a greater spotted woodpecker, barn owls, buzzards, numerous tits and wild boar.

Check in day is normally Saturday and bookings are for minimum 3 nights. Please check our availability here or contact us for enquiries.
