Autumn Safari in the Forest of Dean (daytime guided walks)

Experience the colour and wonders of autumn on a captivating journey through the ancient woodlands of the Forest of Dean.

Your expert guide will lead you on a gentle walk through the colourful autumnal woodland as you listen and watch for woodland birds, discover the wonders of trees and their leaves and seek out the tracks and signs of wild boar and deer. Get up close to fascinating mosses, lichens and woodland fungi on the forest floor, spot late-flying butterflies, dodge dung beetles on the forest tracks and experience the best that the autumn season has to offer!

Your host, Liz, will help you identify the wildlife you see, while also sharing fascinating facts about the forest’s rich history and ecology. You'll also learn more about how and why leaves change colour in autumn, and find out about what the local wildlife is up to at this time of year.

Whether you're a seasoned naturalist or simply seeking a peaceful escape, this guided autumn safari offers an opportunity to connect with the natural world and discover the wonders of this unique and enchanting landscape at one of its most beautiful times of year.
