About Chepstow Spring Walking Festival 10th - 12th April 2026
The Chepstow Spring Walking Festival returns in April 2026, offering a packed programme of guided walks that explore Chepstow, the Lower Wye Valley and surrounding countryside. This well-established festival features a varied programme of guided walks led by friendly, experienced leaders who reveal new perspectives on this stunning landscape.
Organised by the volunteer-led Walks in Chepstow group, the festival celebrates Chepstow’s place as a Walkers are Welcome town. Enjoy stunning views, themed routes, discover hidden TRIG points, and explore newly devised walks created especially for the festival. From geology and local wildlife to overlooked history and heritage, there’s always something new to uncover.
Across three days, walkers can choose from a varied programme of guided walks, led by knowledgeable local walk leaders. Routes are graded to suit different abilities, making the festival suitable for both regular walkers and those looking to try something new.
What to expect
The festival programme typically includes:
- Short, gentle walks around Chepstow and the riverside
- Longer countryside routes exploring the Lower Wye Valley
- Walks focusing on local history, heritage and landscape
- Opportunities to discover lesser-known paths and viewpoints
- Friendly, social walks led by experienced volunteers
Each walk has a clear description, distance and difficulty rating, so you can choose something that suits your pace and interests.
Why take part in the Chepstow Walking Festival
Chepstow is a great base for walking, sitting at the meeting point of the River Wye, Offa’s Dyke Path and the edge of the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. The festival is a chance to explore the area with people who know it well, while enjoying a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
Proceeds from the festival help support Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA), adding a charitable element to the weekend.
