Get DirectionsAbout The Farmers Boy Inn
Welcome to The Farmers Boy Inn
A multi-award-winning 17th-century country inn beside the village of Longhope, on the edge of the Forest of Dean.
Step into a proper country pub where good food, great company, and genuine hospitality come as standard. The Farmers Boy Inn is steeped in character, from oak beams and roaring fires to a sun-trapped beer garden and peaceful courtyard accommodation.
Stay the Night in Cosy Comfort
Tucked away behind the inn, our eight ensuite courtyard rooms offer a restful night’s stay in the heart of rural Gloucestershire. Whether you’re exploring the Forest, travelling for work, or enjoying a weekend away, our rooms are warm, welcoming, and just a few steps from your table.
You’ll wake to birdsong, a hearty breakfast, and a chance to stroll up nearby May Hill or discover the natural beauty of the Forest of Dean.
Proper Food, Done Properly
At the heart of The Farmers Boy is our food. Our multi-award-winning gourmet pies (yes – 46 British Pie Awards and counting) have earned us a reputation far and wide. But the menu doesn’t end there. You’ll find comforting pub classics, Sunday roasts, and seasonal specials – all made with quality ingredients, many of them locally sourced. We also cater to gluten-free, lactose-intolerant, vegetarian and vegan guests with care and consideration, not as an afterthought.
The Big Ugly Burger Challenge
Think you can handle it? Take on our infamous Big Ugly Burger Challenge – 8 quarter-pound patties stacked high with all the trimmings. You’ve got 30 minutes. Only four people have ever completed it since 2011. Go on – we dare you.
Held on the last Thursday of every month. £30 per person, £10 deposit required. Complete it and you eat for free.
Eat In or Take It Home
We’re open every day from 8 am, serving breakfast through to evening meals. Whether you fancy a lazy lunch or a candlelit dinner, we’ve got a table waiting.
On the go? Our award-winning pies and pub favourites are also available for takeaway and Just Eat collection.
A Proper Pub Experience
Expect a warm welcome at the bar with a cracking selection of local ales, ciders and quality wines. Whether you’re toasting with friends by the fire or enjoying a quiet pint in the garden, it’s the kind of pub you’ll want to return to.
Family Friendly. Dog Friendly. Everyone Friendly.
We welcome families, dogs, walkers, cyclists, and groups with open arms. Whether you’re joining us for a bite to eat, a special occasion, or a weekend escape – we’ll make you feel right at home.
Modern Touches in a Timeless Setting
We offer secure bicycle storage for explorers and onsite rapid EV chargers for those passing through – so you can relax, recharge, and enjoy your visit without a worry.
