About At Old Gore Farm
Angus & Sarah welcome you to Old Gore Farm, our Georgian farmhouse where our home is at the heart of all we do
Your home-from-home accommodation - rest and refresh in comfort
Here we've created The Boar Suite, a private first-floor suite for couples comprising a double bedroom, large bathroom and kitchenette. Restoration has been in keeping with the 18th century house - winding staircases, exposed oak beams, no straight edges! Interior design also gives a nod to Georgian times with toile de jouy wallpaper and classic colours, yet with contemporary touches - TV, wifi, fridge - to make your stay a cosy home-from-home.
There is plenty of free car parking, guests can also use the conservatory or sit out in some areas of the garden.
Bring your own racquets and tennis balls if you'd like to have a game of tennis on our full-size hard court. Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the UK, a fun mix of tennis, badminton and table tennis - we have some bats and balls, and whilst the rules are different to tennis the same energy and enthusiasm is required!
Your meals
Breakfast is cooked on the AGA using locally sourced, home-made and home-grown produce as much as possible, with seasonal variations. Typical breakfast fare includes bacon, egg, chipolata sausage, tomato, mushroom, baked beans and toast, with tea or coffee. We're lucky to be surrounded by award-winning food producers, farm shops and markets. Perrystone, our neighbouring estate, rears delicious pork, beef and lamb https://perrystonemeats.co.uk/, and Over Farm's pork pies and Scotch eggs are hard to beat https://www.overfarm.co.uk/farm-shop/.
We make our own chutneys, jams and hummus, too - lemon curd is a favourite, which we use as a dessert topping or cake filling as well as just eating straight out of the jar!
There are plenty of award-winning and popular pubs, restaurants, delis and cafes nearby, the nearest including The Moody Cow country dining pub (3 min drive), The Alma Inn Linton (6 min drive), Westons Cider Mill (9 min drive), The Crown Inn Woolhope (11 min drive), The Loughpool Inn Sellack (12 min drive) and The Farmers Boy Inn Longhope (14 min drive). In Ross on Wye itself (10 min drive), venues include The Royal Hotel, The Riverside Inn & Cafe, The Hope & Anchor, The King's Head, Avellino Italian Restaurant, Truffles Deli and Scrummy Yummy Tearooms.
For those guests who may prefer a light option or just something on arrival here at Old Gore Farm, we offer a cold meat and cheese sharing platter, which can be booked as an extra at time of room booking. All meals are served in the Dining Room with the log-burner blazing in the background on a chilly day, or in the Conservatory overlooking the garden with views across Hay Bluff and beyond.
