Tintern Abbey

Tintern Abbey is open on 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31 December and if the weather behaves there is no better sight than the sun on the glorious grey stone on the Abbey walls. For eager instagrammers this is the perfect time to catch the Abbey in its quieter moments and capture those incredible images.

Cadw Castles

Chepstow Castle from above

Chepstow and Raglan Castle are open to the public on 27, 28, 29, 230 and 31 December. These spectacular fortifications are well worth a visit and if you need to tick any Key Stage boxes their guidebooks are affordable and educational.

Steam Train Experience

Dean Forest Railway has steam train rides three times a day on 27, 29, 31 December as well as New Year's Day. The ride takeS you through the forest on a NINE-mile round trip. Free mince pie for every ticketholder.
