Whether it’s scaling the Great Tower of Raglan Castle, said to be the grandest castle ever built by Welshmen; diving into the wonder of medieval Wales at Chepstow Castle, or exploring the peaceful ruins of Tintern Abbey, Cadw locations offer an unforgettable blend of education and entertainment.

Visitors of all ages are invited to take part in a rich array of immersive historical experiences, interactive workshops, and hands-on activities - all designed to vividly bring Welsh history to life.

For children’s days out - and chilled days out, there’s more than one side to history at Cadw.

Raglan Castle Odyssey

Step into the grandeur of one of Wales’ most spectacular castles and take part in an immersive medieval adventure. With live demonstrations and interactive activities, Raglan Castle becomes a living time capsule - perfect for families eager to explore its towers, tales and treasures.

The Greatest Knight at Tintern Abbey

Sat 23 – Mon 25 August, 10:30 – 17:00

Meet the legendary knight William Marshall and uncover the chivalric world of medieval Wales. With thrilling displays, knightly tales, and family-friendly activities, Tintern Abbey will become a stage for heroic history.

Let's Discover... Series at Chepstow Castle

Various Dates
Explore everything from medieval weapons to the printed word with this series of themed discovery days. Try on chainmail, learn about herbal remedies, or get hands-on with traditional crafts. Each day opens a new door into history’s secrets.

Additional events at Chepstow Castle include:

  • Chepstow Under Siege 1646 Sat 2 & Sun 3 August.
  • Make & Take Wednesdays Every Wednesday between 23 July and 27 August.

Over at Tintern Abbey, keep an eye out for:

  • Resting at the Abbey during the Wars of the Roses 1471 Sat 30 & Sun 31 August.
