Bonfire Night 2026

Where to see fireworks in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley this Bonfire Night

Bonfire Night lands on a Thursday this year, so the displays spread across three nights.

Bonfire Night 2026 displays in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley run from Thursday 5 to Saturday 7 November. Abergavenny's Round Table display at Belgrave Park, Lydney's Bathurst Park, Monmouth Rowing Club and the Red Hart at Blaisdon are all on Thursday 5 November. The Lions' Fireworks at the Speech House and Chepstow Fireworks at the racecourse are both on Saturday 7 November.

Every date, time and price below was checked with the organiser at the time of writing. Things still change, so look at the organiser's page before you set off, and we always recommend to book ahead. Two of the big ones sold out last year.

Thursday 5 November

Blaisdon Young Farmers Bonfire & Fireworks, the Red Hart Inn

A village bonfire done the old way, in the field behind a 16th-century pub. Westbury Young Farmers light the bonfire at 6pm and the fireworks start at 7pm, with a hog roast, hot dogs and mulled cider outside. Pay on the night, £5 for adults and £1 for under-10s, cash or card. This year's takings go to the Forest of Dean Opportunity Centre and the Young Farmers' 100th anniversary. The pub itself is open for drinks only, so eat at the stalls. Bring wellies. It's a field in November.

Bathurst Park Fireworks, Lydney

The town's own display, run by Lydney Town Council in the park off Bathurst Park Road. Gates are open from 5.30pm and the evening wraps up by 8pm, which makes it the easiest of the week for school-night bedtimes. Entry is £5 for adults and £2 for children aged five to sixteen. Last year the council ran a quieter display first and the louder one after, so if you've a child who hates the bangs, ask at the gate whether they're doing the same again.

Monmouth Bonfire & Fireworks Night

Monmouth's display is on the river, at Monmouth Rowing Club on Old Dixton Road, with the Wye as the backdrop. Gates open at 6pm and the fireworks go up at about 7pm. It's a town event with Rotary behind it, so expect the whole of Monmouth to be walking down there with you. Check Visit Monmouthshire for the final times.

Abergavenny Round Table Fireworks Extravaganza, Belgrave Park

The biggest Thursday night display on our patch, and the one to pick if you want music with your fireworks. The Round Table fills the sky over Belgrave Park to a soundtrack that always includes a bit of Disney, with food and drink stalls and a funfair on the park. Gates open at 5pm, there's a mini display at 6pm for children who need an early night, and the main display is at 7pm. Tickets are £10 for adults and £6 for children, and they have to be bought in advance. Every penny of the proceeds goes to local charities. There's no parking at the park, so use the town car parks and walk down.

Saturday 7 November

Lions' Fireworks Spectacular, the Speech House

The Forest's big one, in the field by the Speech House in the middle of the Forest of Dean. The site opens at 4pm with the funfair running half-price children's rides until 5pm, the bonfire is lit at 5pm, and a 20-minute display starts at 6.30pm. Don't be late for that; it starts on time.

Tickets are sold in advance and one ticket admits one car with parking included, so fill the car. Under-12s go free. If it hasn't sold out there'll be card-only sales on the gate, but the Lions say booking ahead is the only way to be sure. Everything after costs goes to the Severn Dean Lions, and the raffle is £1 a ticket. Leave the dog at home. The organisers ask you to, and they're right.

Local tip: the Speech House Hotel is a few hundred yards from the field. If you want a bed rather than a drive home in the dark, book it now.

Chepstow Fireworks, Chepstow Racecourse

Two displays in one night at the racecourse: a low-noise show at 6pm for small children and anyone who'd rather not jump, then the main display at 8pm. Gates open at 4pm and close at 7pm, so you can't turn up for the second show alone. In between there are live bands, street food, rides and the Bierhaus. Tickets are on the racecourse website, from £12 for adults and £10 for children aged four to twelve at the current release, with premier viewing at £22 and £20. There's plenty of parking on site.

One more, in the hills

Devauden Fireworks

Hood Memorial Hall, in the hills above Chepstow. Gates 6pm, fireworks 7.15pm, £5 an adult or £15 a family. The small one, and all the better for it.

Before you go

  • Wrap up in more layers than you think you need. Fields in the Forest in November are colder than the car.
  • Arrive early at the ticketed events. Chepstow's gates shut an hour before the main display, the Lions' show starts to the minute, and Abergavenny won't sell you a ticket on the gate.
  • If your dog hates fireworks, so does everyone else's. The Lions ask you not to bring dogs, and it's good advice for all of them.
  • Make a weekend of it. The autumn colour is at its best in the first week of November, so climb Symonds Yat Rock on the Saturday afternoon and come down for the fireworks.
