About The Trail
Step into one of the most imaginative walks in Britain at the Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail - a unique outdoor gallery where the forest itself becomes part of the artwork.
Set across 4.8 miles (7.7 km) of mixed woodland at Beechenhurst, the trail features a fascinating collection of sculptures created by leading artists, each inspired by the landscape, history and wildlife of the Forest of Dean. Since its foundation in 1986, it has grown into one of the most distinctive art trails in the country.
Along the way, you’ll discover striking and surprising pieces tucked among the trees: giant boats, mirrored fungi, hidden messages, railway sleepers carved with forest stories, and even flame-like sculptures hanging high in the canopy. Some artworks are intended to gradually weather and be reclaimed by nature, making each visit slightly different from the last.
