Our wildlife experiences and nature-based activities are of course abundant here in our ancient forest and wild river valley. Our countryside holds many treasures and we have a wide range of activities and experiences ideal for exploring and learning about our natural world.
We have foraging and bushcraft experiences, wildlife safaris and birdsong walks, birds of prey and falconry experiences and much much more. They are all wonderful experiences ideal for a family or group, great for photographers, kids and as a gift experience. Why not join naturalist, broadcaster and author Ed Drewitt for a dawn chorus experience or wildlife safari? They are a great way to find out more about all that this area has to offer, learn to identify the signs of wildlife and the wonderful range we have here. Falconry experiences offer the unique opportunity to get up close to some incredible birds of prey including owls and hawks. Take part in handling, feeding and flying experiences perfect for all ages and learn about these stunning birds in a beautiful location.

Coleford
Join the Forestry England Ranger team on the main lawn at Beechenhurst for some free, fun-filled family activities this summer.
You can expect colouring and activity sheets, stickers and all sorts of forest treasures to play with, such as deer antlers and leaves. Each week will have a different theme:

Here at Nature in Art we are extremely passionate about supporting local artists and craftspeople, helping to highlight the array of crafts available and the creativity of the people in the local area. Each month we host a two-day Mini Craft Market in the Education Centre, where five to ten crafters sell their unique handmade crafts.

We are very delighted to welcome local wildlife expert Ed Drewitt to Bracelands Campsite this evening. ️
Ed will be taking you on an evening adventure tonight at 8.30pm for an hour's walk into the forest around the edge of Bracelands Campsite. He will be showing you how to look for signs of animals, listening for birds and bats (using a bat detector) and if you keep those eyes sharp you may catch a glimpse of shy fallow deer and perhaps even a wild boar.

The Gloucestershire Society for Botanical Illustration (GSBI) celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2023. So this year Nature in Art are particularly delighted to be hosting their annual exhibition, which showcases work from across their whole membership.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year is the Natural History Museum's annual competition and exhibition highlighting the unique and beautiful relationship between photography, science and art. This is one of the only opportunities to see the renowned exhibition outside of London.

This evening coincides with The Wildlife Art Society International's (TWASI) exhibition. They have chosen Game Rangers International (GRI) as their charity this year. Sport Beattie is President and Founder of GRI who work in Zambia to empower rangers and local communities to conserve nature. Come and hear some inspiring real-life stories from the front-line of conservation. Part of proceeds in aid of GRI.

Field Cottage Peterstow is hosting a wild hop walk around the lanes near Field Cottage to explore the wonderful wild hops growing in the Herefordshire hedgerows.

A must see exhibition - a stunning collection of works by Elizabeth Gray.
Elizabeth Gray, who also used the name Ben Venuto had a long association with Nature in Art. The very first item to be accessioned into the Nature in Art collection was by Elizabeth, a watercolour entitled 'Trouble Overhead', depicting grouse cowering on the moors as an eagle flies above.

Join top trainer Michael Scudamore at his renowned Herefordshire yard for a morning of all things horse racing. This is a rare opportunity to explore the Bromash stables which are set among rolling south Herefordshire countryside. After touring the yard, you will view racehorses working on the gallops, before settling down for a Cheltenham Festival preview with Michael Scudamore, his jockey brother Tom Scudamore, and former BBC horse racing correspondent Cornelius Lysaght.
