British big cats – the art & the science
2nd Apr 2026 10:00 - 4th May 2026 17:00
About British big cats – the art & the science
With evidence from DNA and tooth marks on bones, British big cats are emerging from myth to reality. Join us for some art, craft, tracking and science, to learn about Britain’s big cats – the once discarded pets that are now stealthy deer stalkers of our forests.
As well as artwork depicting the black panthers, the lynx and the pumas described by witnesses, the event will have input from visiting artists, big cat witnesses, a research briefing from the Royal Agricultural University, and investigators from across the region will be on hand to discuss tracks and signs of the cats.
Mural artist Rob Amos will be producing British big cat artwork over the May Bank Holiday weekend, 2-4 May, and other local art and craft specialists are invited to contribute their own Dean Panthers during the event dates…
If you’re a local artist or craftworker interested in getting involved, please contact the event curator, Rick Minter, rick@bigcatconversations.com
