Monnington House Garden Cottage and The Cider offer 5 Star accommodation for large groups and multi-generational families in the beautiful Wye Valley.   Sleeping up to 24 spread across 3 properties there are 12 double bedrooms and 12 bathrooms amidst huge private gardens and grounds of at least 2 acres plus a large playing field with football goals  and surrounded by cider apple orchards and rural farmland.  An idyllic and peaceful setting for large group getaways close to the River Wye and beautiful market town of Hay on Wye.

Monnington House has 6 spacious bedrooms and 6 bathrooms and a great well equipped working kitchen with huge working island supplied with generous amounts of crockery, glassware, pots and pans for 24.   Here catering is sociable,easy  and fun.  Adjoining the kitchen is the dining area which has a  long refectory style table to seat 24, making lunches and dinners for large numbers simple.   Three large pairs of French doors lead onto the south facing garden and terrace where you can admire the space, peace and feel the breeze and warmth of the sunshine.

The snug connects with the dining area and hall and is  full of books has underfloor heating and  a woodburner, a large sofa and tv.  For cosying up, watching TV, playing board games there is an additional sitting  room with 3 sofas with smart TV and an elegant drawing room with sofas,  woodburner and card table and chairs.   Puzzles and a variety of board games are supplied.

Monnington House has huge gardens of about 2 acres and a lovely south facing terrace supplied with generous outdoor sofas and chairs (and parasol in the summer months).   A large outdoor eating terrace is equipped with table and chairs for 24 and bbq in the summer months (May to end of September). From this sheltered space you can view the  huge football field with 2 football goals which keeps all ages amused.   For rainy days and dark evenings the rustic table tennis room in the outbuildings and the games room with pool table and table football are a winner.

Next is Garden Cottage which adjoins Monnington House.  It  has its own pretty sitting room, which is great for quiet escapes from the group, has  french doors onto east facing terrace and its  own garden.   The terrace has its own table and chairs and is a lovely spot to catch a quiet breakfast in the morning sunshine.  The kitchen is simply equipped and has a small kitchen table and chairs.   There are 3 double bedrooms, one on the ground floor which works well for those with restricted mobility and 3 bathrooms. There are lots of books, rugs and objects collected by the owner.

A short walk across paddock (about 1 minute) is The Cider Mill.   It’s a very pretty stone cottage on one level and has 3 ensuite bedrooms.  A beautiful enclosed garden with south facing terrace and  soft seating area plus garden table and chairs are provided.   This cottage is a popular choice for  Granny and Grandpa who like to have their own space  and can also be together with the family in the main house.

There is a huge  choice of walks straight from the door to suit all abilities and ages.  Across the river the Moccas Park Nature Reserve  is home to veteran trees and has a 360 degree views. The River Wye entertains guests at all times of the year.   Nearby canoeing, kayaking, fishing, paddling and wild swimming take place.   Visits to the cathedral city of Hereford which is the home to the Mappa Mundi are enjoyed.   Hay on Wye is hugely popular and should be visited at all times of year.  It has many independent shops, cafes, galleries and a small 50 seater cinema.   Go karting at nearby Weobley and the Small Rare Breeds Farm at Kington are within 20 minutes drive.   The farmshop, Oakchurch is at the top of the lane and fantastic and thoroughly appreciated by guests.  Great choice of pubs and cafes to suit all budgets including the Red Lion at Bredwardine and Garden Café at Brobury House Gardens which are within an hours good walk.

Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement.   Great local caterer available by prior arrangement too.
