About Us
Shinrin Yoku is proven to:
- Boost your immune system
- Reduce blood pressure and stress levels
- Improve sleep
- be a natural antidepressant.
The results are so well documented that its now being recommended by health professionals across the world!
First documented 800 years BC, the practice was carried out by Shinto practitioners. Shinto is the ancient religion of Japan and it is believed that everyone and everything has a connection. A follower of the Shinto religion meditates with the trees in the forest to achieve a deep relaxed state. Now in Japan there are over 60 national Shinrin Yoku woodland centres and Shinrin Yoku courses are prescribed by the doctors and hospitals.
Physical and mental health are both boosted after spending time in the forests and through the art of Shinrin Yoku, the healing properties can be over four times more powerful. Reconnecting with the natural environment and focusing on its amazing smells, sounds, sights, tastes and textures can enhance the experience and bring a deeper sense of relaxation. Shinrin Yoku also boosts creativity and your ability to deal with stress and trauma.
Our trained forest guide Tom can take you on a sensory adventure in the woods, explaining how and why it works. When you leave the session, you can take away various techniques and expand your practice in everyday life. Walks typically last around 3-4 hours (2-3 miles) around Hill Farm (http://www.hillfarmtintern.co.uk) in the beautiful Wye Valley.
