The ‘First Farewell’ tour brings Peggy Seeger to the Forest of Dean to share and perform her music which has made her one of the most passionate and influential singer songwriters in the folk tradition. Her achievements include- the Radio Ballads created with her partner Ewan MacColl and Charles Parker – series of documentaries made for BBC Radio a sound tapestry of music song and spoken word to capture working class lives between 1957- 1964. Her name is included on banners made as part of the Greenham Common Women for Peace campaign against nuclear weapons in the 1980s. ‘First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’ a hit for Roberta Flack and later the Fugees was written by MacColl for Peggy Seeger and is the title of her memoir. She has many of her own songs and many from the traditional music of Britain and North America which she carrys with her and in the work of her late brother Pete Seeger. She will performing material from her new CD with her son multi instrumentalist Calum MacColl.
