About Us
A walk introducing the geology of the area and its effect on the landscape, flora and fauna, and local human development.
A 4km Geology Walk led by local Geologist Dave Green. The walk will take approximately 3 hours and involves some climbing and a number of stiles.
Highlights include: Almost horizontal Lower Limestone Shale overlying Tintern Sandstone, forming the Stowe Green plateau cut into by the deep valley of the Slade Brook, a tributary of the Wye. The walk includes disappearing and reappearing streams, sink holes, travertine dams and falls in the Slade Brook. Views west from St Briavels of an abandoned meander - part of the Wye Valley.
Park on old road in front of Bearse Farm (but please don’t block access).
The walk is free. You can book tickets via Eventbrite from 13th July.
