You are here: Things To Do > Shopping
You might think that the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley is all about nature and the outdoors, but it's also a great place for a shopping trip with many wonderful independent retailers, high streets full of shops, craft centres, markets, local food and drink producers and traders ready to tempt you.
The market towns and picturesque villages of the Dean Wye have a unique character and charm. Nestled throughout the area are an impressive number of small independent shops where you will be met with a friendly personal service. There are butchers and bakers, traditional sweet shops and book shops plus several delicatessens offering a range of local produce including some offering delivery.
The area's craft centres are also great places to spend a few hours and provide lots of ideas for unique gifts and souvenirs or to learn a new craft at one of the many workshop sessions. At Taurus Crafts and Warehouse 701 you'll find a huge range of crafts, antiques and goodies. You'll find art galleries showcasing our wonderful local painters and sculptors such as Creates Gallery, you'll find potteries and cider shops too.
In these uncertain times you may wish to carry out your shopping online more, so take a look at our Online Gift Guide which contains a huge variety of local businesses all selling their products and services online. An experience day or a gift set, crafts, paintings or pottery or maybe a food and drink hamper. There's lots to choose from, perfect for a gift for a loved one or a treat for yourself or a reminder of your visit to the Dean Wye and as always a great way of supporting local businesses and shopping local even though it is online!
