About Us

Hillside Brewery are an awesome, award winning, local brewery producing a range of delicious beers and a lager. Since opening their doors in 2014 they have had a focus on producing top quality beers consistently, having big brewing facilities, while sticking to their roots of being a local artisan brewery.  They use the best ingredients that they can source, from the majority of their hops coming from just 18 miles down the road at Townend Farm, to their speciality malts roasted in Germany – ‘to produce the best beers in the world, we have to use the best ingredients in the world’ says owner and beer fanatic, Paul Williamson. This has resulted in winning over 45 awards from the beers to the business.

The brewery has a Classic Collection of beers which are brewed all year round, with a modern take on traditional styles of beer. Brewing everything from a Pale Ale to a Dark Mild, and more recently producing a delicious (and award winning) craft lager – brewed the traditional way, just as it should be. They also have season specials and limited series which change throughout the year depending on what’s seasonal or what the brewers want to experiment with.

As well as producing delicious beers they also host brewery tours and beer tasting experiences. On these you can learn more about the brewing process and the ingredients used to create this fantastic drink.

They have recently converted their Hop Barn where they host a wide range of events. From beer festivals, to beer and food pairings to weddings and conferences – there is an event that will be of interest. Having a 10 metre bar and a 40-acre farm to soak up the views as well as the beer this is a must visit destination.

The whole business is keen on being environmentally friendly and having a zero impact wherever it can. This shows through the green credentials, the whole brewery and events side of the business is powered completely by solar power, air and ground source heat pumps – now being a net exporter of energy. All of the water comes from a bore hole 60m in the side of the hill so the water used in the brewing process is mineral rich, hard and perfect for brewing beer.

If you wanted more of an action filled day with a beer to finish, they have recently launched some new activities and experiences which are perfect for parties, groups on holiday, stag and hen do’s. These include laser clay pigeon shooting, axe throwing, air rifle shooting and battlezone archery (which is like combining archery and dodgeball) along with may more activities.

They have an on-site shop, they host regular brewery tours throughout the week and a wide range of events throughout the year. They also have a large events space where they host brewery tap nights, beer festivals, beer breakfasts, outdoor theatre and much more so be sure to check them out and what they have coming up.
