About Us

We have three  accessible and dog friendly cottages, which sleep between 2 and 4 people.  All bedrooms are en-suite.

 To help you, below is guidance to understand what is the same with each cottage and what are the differences.

Also, if you have a larger group, the cottages can be inter-linked in the following combinations, so you can have your own privacy and come together :

  • Cider Cottage and Brambles Barn, creating shared living space for 6 people.
  • Brambles Barn and Valley View, creating shared living space for 6 people.
  • Cider Cottage, Brambles Barn and Valley View, creating shared living space for 8 people.

 

What is the same with each cottage?

  •  Assessed by VisitEngland   as 5 Star and 4 Star Gold,  also  by the NAS [ National Accessibility Scheme]
  • All bedrooms are en-suite .
  • Underfloor zoned heating.
  • Air re-circulatory system, ensuring a constant supply of fresh air.
  • Free Private Parking.
  • Same facilities at all cottages.
  • All cottages are non-smoking.
  • They are at the same location.
  • The cottages offer independent privacy from each other but flexibility too as they can be inter-linked.
  • Same level of service from the Thatch Close Cottages team.
  • They all have the same hearing and visual  facilities accessibility facilities.
  • Dogs are  most welcome.

 

What are the differences?

  • Cider Cottage and Valley View each sleep 2 people. Rated as 5 Star by Visit England
  • Brambles Barn sleeps 4 people. Rated as 4 Star Gold by Visit England
  • Mobility accessibility - Valley View provides mobility accessibility for guests who use wheelchairs either independently or with assistance as the whole cottage is on the ground floor. Cider Cottage and Bramble Barn both have stairs and are accessible to guests who are able to use stairs unaided. There is level parking adjacent to the entrance.

 

Cider Cottage

  • Sleeps 2 with 1 en-suite bathroom.
  • Accessibility - V1, H2, M1.
  • Can link  internally with Brambles Bottom.

Cider Cottage, so named as a Cider Stone was found here during the renovation, is accessed by a wonderful Victorian brick patio. Stairs lead to a spacious open plan dining room, well equipped kitchen and sitting room with an abundance of oak beams reflecting its original character. 
The main living area has 2 double sofas and a coffee table. The U-Shaped kitchen contains a dishwasher, fridge and oven which are built in under the worktops. A 4-seater dining table completes the room. There is also a freezer.

Brambles Barn

  • Sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms with 2 en-suite bathrooms
  • Accessibility - V1, H2, M1
  • Can link with Cider Cottage or Valley View

This former threshing barn has wonderful views from the bedrooms and a full height mezzanine. It has a wealth of oak beams along with solid wood floors and has retained the original 'A' frame. The oak fully glazed screens have skilfully replaced the original barn doors allowing the countryside in. 

The two bedrooms each have an ensuite with WC, washbasin and shower. A ground floor cloakroom is designed to accommodate wheelchairs, which is ideal if guests rent both Brambles Barn and the adjoining fully accessible Valley View. There is an open plan living area with fully fitted kitchen and ample dining space for 8 people.

Valley View

  • Sleeps 2 in 1 en-suite bathroom.
  • Accessibility - V1, H1, M3.
  • Can link with Brambles Bottom.

Valley View overlooks the beautiful Garron Valley and has been beautifully restored to allow full wheelchair accessibility. The beamed lounge has ample seating with views over the valley. There is an adjacent private patio is easily accessible for wheelchair users. The fully equipped kitchen has been skilfully designed to incorporate rise and fall work surfaces with a fully accessible sink and hob.  bedrooms have two large single beds, which can be zip-linked, rise and fall dressing table. The wet-room is wheelchair accessible with a Geberit wash and dry wc, rise and fall sink and mirror , with adequate support bars if required .

Wet-room has a Geberit shower toilet, and rise and fall sink.

 

Other Features

There is a laundry with commercial washing machine and drier close to the cottages.

There are a number of seating areas , with a newly constructed accessible patio with a BBQ and pizza oven ,

Over 12 acres of organic grassland  with ancient trees and hedges and garden  for walks and dogs to explore.

Public Transport Directions

Unfortunately our cottages can't be access by public transport.  The nearest railway stations is Hereford and long-distance coaches run to Ross-on-Wye.
